Understanding what goes on in school and having a say in what happens there is important to all of us. The purpose of the Parent Council is to provide a voice for all our parents and carers, working with the school and the local authority on issues that are important to us and our children. As parents and carers we have a lot to offer the school in terms of interests, skills, and experience and it is this partnership that helps to support the education and welfare of our children.

Being involved in the Parent Council can involve as much or as little time as you like. In terms of time we meet every two months for approximately two hours where we discuss any current issues and often arrange for people to come and talk to us about services associated with the school.

The Chair of the Parent Council is Mrs Mandy Tulloch and the Vice Chair is Ms Jacqui Hutchison.  Membership of the Parent Council for 2024-25 will be confirmed at the meeting on Tuesday, 1st October 2024.

The AGM for the Parent Council took place on Tuesday, 3rd September 2024 at 19.00 in G3 at Mackie Academy.

The Parent Council constitution was reviewed  at the first full meeting on Tuesday, 1st October 2024 and approved at the meeting on Tuesday, 19th November 2024.  The updated version can be found here.

We welcome parents at any of our meetings as observers and parents can look at join the Parent Council at any point in the year.  It is really important that the Parent Council is representative of our wider parent forum.  Please give consideration to whether or not you could add value as part of the Parent Council to the improvement journey of Mackie Academy.

All meetings start at 7pm and finish by 9pm at the latest.  Our meetings from April to October take place in person at Mackie Academy in G3 and those over the winter months are online.
